Lake Lewisia #84

The former mermaid wheeled herself down the wooden boardwalk that followed part of the lake’s shoreline, letting eyes accustomed to darker waters guide her with only starlight. She sang as she went, until a slick and weed-strewn head surfaced and piped a trill of notes in return. She never competed in the yearly contest of singers hoping to charm the monster, knowing some things were only meant for friends to hear.

The Flock Has Landed

At long last, our ducklings have arrived! Three Rouen females, hatched on the 23rd. They are my flock of fucks. :D

three ducklings, dark brown with yellow markings, sitting in shavings around a red and white water dish

Rouen is technically considered a meat breed, but they're not horrible layers, and they tend to have mellow, pleasant personalities. (They will also be fat little battleships when fully grown.) That was our main priority, with eggs as a tasty bonus.

For now, they'll be living in a dog kennel in the office. Once they get big enough, though, they will move into Fort Fucks, which we are in the process of building. Please understand, we have between us: an incomplete junior high education, an AA with a focus on veterinary medicine, and a BA in English. Math, engineering, and carpentry are Not Our Strong Suits. It's been...interesting.
