Lake Lewisia #295
Wild wolves had not been seen in the area in more than a century, driven out by farmers and herders and trappers, the human outriders of a future that left little room for the untamed. In the morning, mysterious gifts appeared piled beside dog beds, treats snuck into pantries, and dogs and humans both awoke with joyous howls in their throats.
