Done This Week
Thank Thor, this week did not suck as badly. I wasn’t sure I was going to survive another wretched one.
One of my favorite people at work is leaving, basically because they aren’t paying enough. I’ve had long conversations with people across multiple teams about how we are not being paid enough to survive and people will continue to jump ship. I have to decide if I’m going to raise these concerns to my supervisor and the GM in person or in writing or some combination of both. The fact is that it goes beyond our individual site and neither of those people can directly make changes. Because hierarchies! But we’re collectively trying to make enough noise and upward pressure to be heard.
I am starting to float ideas about a walkout. Not that I think it will really happen, but I’m trying to get conversations going about doing something more than suffering in silence or individually seeking other employment.
I saw TWO thrashers together while on my lunch walk. One of my friends from succulent club gave me a mini planter of succulents she assembled in a 1 ½” socket. I got to watch one of the toolmakers doing repairs by hand and learn some blacksmithing techniques.
Lewisia: 3 new pieces written
Day job: 42.75 hours
Cooking: cinnamon rolls (not sure where the recipe is from, it’s one of mum’s handwritten ones)
Crafting: darning socks
Gardening: succulent club meeting
Listening: The Blue Rose Rare by Alexander James Adams (A transmasc using changelings as a metaphor for transition who does folk music both before and after? My only regret is that I didn’t grow up with his music earlier. Fully obsessed.)
Other: unloaded hay
