Today's Keyboard Smash
...cleaning report? Yes, I'm still doing this thing. Just a bit slower. I'm still sorting through trading cards, but I'm almost finished with the Pokemon booster packs, at least. I need to dig out the big briefcase of cards, which is...somewhere... I have a vision for how I want to make these into decorative panels for my room, which will look really cool if I can get it put together.
The other thing I got done was reorganizing my hanging clothing to make use of the new, nicer hangers mum gave me as a holiday gift. I have a number of fancy vests and dusters and such. They've been having to live stacked two or more deep on a single hanger, and the wire hangers have been stretching out the shoulders on some of them. So now I have padded ones for the ones prone to stretching and just nicer wooden ones for a lot of the others. I cleared out a few pieces I don't wear anymore, so everything there isn't so crushed together. I also stored away several Halloween costume elements that don't need to live in my room at all times. That made everything look a bit less cluttered.
I'm not sure I want to do a deep dive on the clothing situation just yet. It's honestly one of the easiest things, in a way--I've got a lot less emotional baggage about the clothing than I do about the trinkets, and in any case, I'm more willing to just discard or donate unwanted clothing than unwanted books.
Speaking of which, I didn't end up putting any time toward unearthing the bookshelf this week. I stalled out a bit, you see. I've got the books from it sorted into keeping and donating, and I have a place to move the donating books to. What I don't have is anywhere proper to put the keeping books. Which means I need help to sort of shuffle them out of the way, get the bookshelf out, and then pile up the books where it was until such time as I free up more space in the other book storage areas.
This is what always causes me problems--that point when I have to play tetris with my belongings. Shuffling this here and there, needing an extra set of hands to manage everything, feeling like I haven't accomplished anything on the grounds that I haven't definitively cleared an area.
This week, I spent a bit over an hour on cleaning stuff. I listened to Hidden Almanac and some other podcasts. This next week, my work schedule goes back to normal. I'm rather hoping everything else does as well. I need a routine again.
