Pandemic Garden Club
Welcome to the January edition of Pandemic Garden Club! Growing good things in strange times!
Anyone is welcome to comment with what they're growing right now, things they would like to try, problems they're encountering, and questions they have. Share resources, answer questions, shout encouragement.
As for myself...

An update on the mystery seedling I posted last month. They’ve started putting out their first sets of true leaves. Based on that, I think they are lupines! I know there’s various types of lupines in the seed mixes I spread, so that tracks. I have a couple of lupines I planted as starts a few years ago as well, which have grown vigorously. Hopefully, these new ones won’t end up too crowded, given where they’re growing. But I’m excited--lupine grows well for me here, so I think they have a good chance. Also, they’re one of my favorite flowers.

Meanwhile, a different mystery. This is some kind of bulb. The leaves, to me, look like tulips. However, they’re growing in two of the tire planters at the cardinal points of the castle garden. I...don’t think I planted tulips in there? I planted some alliums there in November. In fairness, every other allium I’ve planted has failed to sprout, so I might not be remembering what their young leaves look like. In that case, I’m super stoked that they’re growing! I had hoped the ones in the general area of the castle garden would serve as gopher deterrents (plants in the allium family being famously distasteful to pests). But at this point, any allium growing feels like a victory against the enemies of gardeners.
