Hello, Tumblr Refugees!
ETA: I should probably make more of a point about the names--I'm joycesully over on tumblr, I write fic as freshbakedlady, and I'm one or the other on any other service you care to think of. See the sidebar or the profile for various links.

Right, so, apparently, while I was busy with intensive work shenanigans, Tumblr decided to...shoot itself in the foot because a shark was about to eat it anyway? Is that metaphor suitably strained? Great.
Now, I am aware that it is not actually imploding overnight, and I fully intend to keep using the platform. If for no other reason than because I have nearly 2k posts saved in my draft folder, awaiting reblogging, and fuck you, I'm not just chucking that all out the window.
That being said, uh, it does look a bit like a writing-is-on-the-wall situation, doesn't it? Also, I feel like any excessive display of brand loyalty at this point is just rewarding Tumblr for bad behavior. They've shown a consistent inability to address genuine problems in sensible ways, choosing instead to add new features no one wanted or, in this case, use sweeping policy changes to throw the baby out with the bathwater.
But that is not the point! The point is, hello! I'm suddenly and increasingly glad I decided to join DW at last.
To those who may follow me over here from Tumblr, thanks for wandering after me into a new wilderness. I will make an effort to post more regularly here about things that aren't my Lake Lewisia microfiction. (But hey, great news: daily fiction available here!) I'm very much still learning my way around here. I'm going to reach out to some of the DW veterans to see...what it is we do here. God knows, it would be lovely to have actual interactions more robust than what we cobbled together on Tumblr.
