“I’ve never seen the lake freeze before,” she remarked as the dark figure glided and twirled across the glossy surface. The skates left brief trails of white behind them, twinkling with icy rainbows. “Oh, it doesn’t,” the figure agreed, as a fish broke the surface with a splash and the figure leapt over it with a mid-air spin.
