"You have a collect call from," the operator intoned, then a second voice, eerie in its familiarity, blurted out, "Helena-from-tomorrow-don't-hang-up." The call had come as she was about to lock up the house behind her, and Helena--the real Helena, she thought, the Helena of today anyway--froze midway through what was supposed to be the last step before she moved out for good. "Will you accept the charges?"
