Done This Week

I have this problem: I am absolutely rubbish at assessing how much I've gotten done in any given stretch of time. Normal people, according to the productivity podcasts I listen to because I'm a flipping masochist, tend to underestimate how much free time they have available, if only they didn't do things like scroll social media endlessly.

I am not a normal person. I consistently report that I've done nothing with myself outside of my day job. I consistently don't understand why I can't seem to make time to do things like read books. This is...manifestly inaccurate, and it's become an actively unhelpful habit. It's making me depressed, because I feel like I'm doing something wrong when I can't seem to cram even more into my schedule.

So I started keeping a little spreadsheet of what I've gotten done in a week. It's not a comprehensive timelog with things like meals and sleep. It's just a little way to track things like writing I've gotten done, optional things that take time, and hours devoted to Important Shit so I can see that those hours didn't just disappear into the ether.

I figured I would post a little summing up of these here, then I'll have a record I can look back through if I like. Otherwise I'm just going to delete the data each week to get it out of my way and shan't have it available anymore.

Lewisia: 6 new pieces written (word count is sort of meaningless on these, so I'm just counting pieces)

Gratitude journaling: 25 new entries

Tumblr queue: 20 posts added (tracked because it's kind of a time sink for me, but still something I want to do)

Day job: 42 hours (technically 40, because I'm clocked out for the 30 minute lunch, but it's not like I'm not still stuck there, and I'm interested in the time actually involved)

Art practice: watercolored a coloring book page

Cooking: crockpot chicken for work lunches

Cleaning: dusting in bedroom, sorting clothing, cleaning computers ahead of taking them in for upgrades

Flood bonus: 1441 words added, draft finished

Other: took computers to hometown for upgrades, ~7 hours total driving time plus all day running errands while down there
