plague journaling

Oh, the irony! I am sick, not with covid, but with an absolutely brutal stomach bug. My entire gastrointestinal system seems to have been replaced by dead rats and active landmines. I slept approximately two hours last night.

I was very useful at work today, I'm sure.

The new kid on the team, fresh out of high school, informed me today that she's leaving in a few weeks to move back in with her parents in another state. She was rather open about the fact that her mental health has been suffering massively under these circumstances. Trying to be an independent adult is hard enough right now, but trying to do that for the first time is proving impossible for her.

I imagine that's not unique. I know there's been much made about how long it took many in my generation to move out from their parents' homes. It seems likely that the next generation will also come of age in a world where striking out on your own is, if not impossible, certainly ill-advised.

Lake Lewisia #515

Sign-ups are starting for this season of self-defense classes at the community center, where people of all ages and abilities can learn techniques to protect and strengthen themselves. Returning favorites include Cane-Fu, Street Smarts for Country Bumpkins, and Not Afraid of the Dark. New offerings this year are Transformation Tactics, a class for those with two or more physical forms and controlled changes, and a special supplement class, First Aid for Fighters, for those who rush in where good sense and bodily integrity fear to tread.
