Lake Lewisia #555

They bent over one part after another, systematically dismantling the bus and reassembling it. With each piece, Shannon described what she perceived to be the problem--the crackles and the whines, the choking and the rippling--and Noah transformed those impressions into mechanical fact with a wrench and a rag in hand. It might not have been as good as finding someone who spoke her language, but maybe it was better still to find someone with the will to translate her dictionary word by word.

Today's Keyboard Smash

I'm writing this preemptively because I'm having some dental work done after work today. I would prefer not to do it when I have to work again the next day for two reasons. Which brings me to the prognostication portion of our evening. One, it makes for a very tight evening, which never have quite enough time as it is, and necessitates doing things like writing this ahead of time. Two, I am guaranteed to feel like garbage and will never appreciate having to work the next day on a novacaine hangover.

Also, they informed me yesterday they want me to arrive early. Again, and I cannot emphasize this enough, I make appointments for a time I can actually get there. I warn them that I need late appointments so I have time to leave work and actually make my glorious self physically manifest at their base of operations. And yet. And still.

Added post-appointment: oh good, I still fail to have a normal human's sensitivity to the numbing agent they start with. They had to dose me with the fast-acting one on top of it. The fast-acting one makes my heart leap out of my chest, trailing all my blood vessels like streamers. At least I knew to expect it. Ugh.
