Today's Keyboard Smash

Ack. It's rec day for Snowflake, oh bane of my existence. I'll have to catch up on this one over the weekend (what weekend?) when I have time to pull links and whatnot.

My dog has a follow-up appointment tomorrow, about which I am a total basket case. Her skin is a lot better--still bare, but not inflamed and flaking as badly. Unfortunately, she's having seizures. This isn't actually new, though I didn't realize that's what they were for a while. They weren't happening often--maybe once a month at most--and they weren't what I recognized as a seizure exactly. But in retrospect, I'm sure those were the first signs of tumor growth.

She had two in an hour last night, which knocked us both for a loop. I don't even know. Probably nothing to be done for it but treat the hormone imbalance and do the best we can with whatever time we get. Shit sucks.

Volunteers are needed for the wildlife relocation efforts following the flooding and mudflow along the Lake Lewisia north shore. Those experienced in animal handling are being asked to manage the displaced population of peryton, while interested laypeople can help with debris removal throughout the damaged nesting area. We recognize that the poisonous nature of peryton antlers makes this a daunting task, but we ask for courage to preserve local biodiversity in the face of natural disaster, because the world can't stay strange without our help.
