Someone had been taking her favorite reading spot, the one in the corner of the last tall window where the library looked out over the park and a hive of feral books had built a papery nest in the corner of the eaves outside, and she was determined to outwit them. When the corner of her eye showed a figure halt at the sight of her and do an abrupt about-face, ten minutes after she sat down and five minutes before her previous usual arrival time, she smiled grimly into the open spine of her book. It's always nice to have a nemesis, she thought as she mentally awarded herself a point in the new feud.
