Under strict lab protocols, Kim finally extracted the seed packets from the hermetically sealed case in which he had stored them. Like that, they had made the long trip from the outside world, from the mundane town where they had been harvested, sealed against the ambient strangeness of Lewisia. Though good scientific thinking discouraged wishing for certain results, as he planted them and set up the monitoring systems that would track their development, Kim couldn't help looking forward to seeing what strangeness might develop in another non-native like him.
