Lake Lewisia #1009

They had never once spoken in all the years of frequenting the same fallen log out behind the playground. After graduation, they still encountered each other there, dolls and toy swords traded for paperbacks and handheld games, themselves replaced by cell phones and toolboxes. Through years of silence and knowing one seat in the world would always be saved for them alone, they forged something beyond the word "friendship," beyond any words at all.
