Lake Lewisia #249
Given the nature of the area, using dogs for search and rescue operations was not always possible or sufficient. Former mermaids had coordinated with emergency services to train the lake fish to search the depths, though what they found and reported back could not always be brought to the surface again. Rabbits and cats both proved particularly skilled in navigating dimensional rifts and similar phenomenon, given their own skills at burrowing and disappearing, respectively.
