Lake Lewisia #489

Theirs was a history that stretched back into mythology, older than most on or under the earth, but it was built of losses and silences and gaps, and so they carried it in story, in poetry, in song. Books could be burned, instruments smashed, but voices survived as the faintest whisper or the loudest wail and added no weight to a nomad’s back. In the caves they called home-for-now, hung with crystals and veined with ore, news and history and lore rang where echoes could bolster their small numbers and song could remake all that had been lost.

This is so beautiful and poetic and evocative! I really want to know more about these people, their history, and their lore.
