Please drive carefully on the weekends this month, as crews will be out servicing the many roadside shrines dotted throughout Lewisia. Some of the shrines are relics from bygone days when those traveling to town by wagon or on horseback needed all the protection they could muster; other shrines are new and in active use by commuters who must ask for favor on the fly. All of them need upkeep to keep wood and stone in good repair, remove encroaching plant life, and refresh any offerings left for whatever entities choose to hear our passing pleas.
