She wrote love letters to all of them, the script careful and plain, the stationary simple, letting the words themselves carry her meaning like no flowery greeting card could. The letters were then placed where they would be found most naturally: under the bed frame, at the back of the closet, in the odd gap between the fridge and the wall that the lights never quite reached. She loved all the monsters of the house, the things that lurked in dark corners and slid into the corner of her gaze, and she made sure they knew how she felt.

Thank you! I'll keep that in mind--I've had a number of pieces end up expanding into ongoing arcs, so it's always a possibility.
