Though she was known for hosting tea parties and luncheons for an eclectic troupe of friends on any given afternoon, the knock at the door that day came as a surprise. The sharply dressed creature, its waistcoat buttons glinting and its long ears held at a jaunty angle, bowed and pantomimed clearly enough to explain it was there for tea. Though they shared no spoken language in common, the two found shared interest enough in a pot of tea and a few day-old scones much improved by a touch of jam, which have always been one of the more stable foundations for friendship in any case.
