It seems that our volunteers have found one very large, very lonely creature in need of a mother (or twelve) and have called for resupply assistance. Fortunately, the output of the ongoing baking competition means there is a prodigious amount of comfort food currently available from both competitors and inspired townfolk, much of which is even edible. Those wishing to help without becoming adoptive parents themselves can join in packaging up treats, preferably with little notes tucked inside with expressions of affection and amateurish doodles, a universally recognized form of love.

Aww... is the comfort in the baking, competing, participating, or all three?

Well, in this case, the food is comforting to receive and eat for the creature in question--mostly. Regarding edibility: the bake off has prompted a lot of interest and enthusiasm around town, but that doesn't mean that everyone trying it out for themselves at home are succeeding at first. Some offerings are more pleasing to the palette than others, even if they are all equally well-meant.
