Imagine his surprise when, after years of fear and medication and the constant looming specters of vast skeletal creatures, he heard a stranger on the street say, “Oh, hey, Kevin, been a while!” The fleshless jaw moved silently, as it always did, skull bending low over a rooftop, as the woman watched his apparently not-so-imaginary giant and nodded sympathetically. “Some people,” she said as she cast a pitying look over at him, “are just terrible listeners, but keep trying.”
