Lake Lewisia #242
Sep. 30th, 2018 05:13 pmHe heard the whistle as a high, clear note borne in the wind over the tops of the buildings downtown, and he had leapt to his feet, sack lunch tumbling from his lap, and taken off running before he even knew quite what he had heard. At the edges of his vision, he saw other people sprinting in the same direction, backpacks hanging off one shoulder or jackets fluttering forgotten in their wake. He wondered if any of them knew what the summons meant or where they were running to.
