They eventually found long-term work in conversions: changing files and even physical objects from one format to another for archiving and accessibility. There was pretty steady demand to convert memories into mementos like jewelry and knick-knacks (safe from forgetfulness yet even more easily lost, in their experience), though more unusual requests did come in. They actually won a minor award in the field for managing to turn a wish into a fine palomino mare, a change never previously accomplished for more than a few moments at a stretch.
