Lake Lewisia #374
Apr. 20th, 2019 05:42 amIt was for the best that the neighborhood get-together had been advertised only with fliers and word of mouth, rather than anything like formal invitations. It meant that no one had to apologize for overlooking any of the unexpected attendees who wandered in just as the potluck tables were being arranged: wispy swamp gas creatures from up on the river, the dark shapes that inhabited the gaps under front porches, and a colony of Poetic Toads living at the end of the street. No one questioned them–all neighbors belonged there, after all–and they pulled up chairs and improvised drinking vessels for the lot of them.
