“That is not a small animal,” the vet felt the need to point out as he stared up ten feet to a twitching nose outside his clinic. “I had to make a choice,” the creature’s caretaker–owner, partner, rider, he wasn’t really sure–admitted, “if the size or the species mattered more when it came to medical care.” Reluctantly, thinking mostly of the logistics of using any of his medical equipment on an animal the size of a small house, the vet conceded, “Well, I do treat rabbits, and that is technically a rabbit.”
