Lake Lewisia #503
Mar. 16th, 2020 05:04 pmAs the weather warms and flowers both wild and cultivated begin to bloom, we know it is tempting to collect any pretty specimen spotted, but we must ask that you DO NOT attempt to pick any of the off-white, six petaled Windmill Daisies that will be popping up in gardens and parks. An invasive species with a symbiotic relationship with certain heirloom varieties of tulips, these simple flowers have an unusually high level of defensive movement capability. We’ve already had twelve reports of hand and nose injuries from people caught unawares by their rotating, blade-like petals from which their name derives.
