IIIIIII...have no attention span to speak of. Did stuff. Go me.

Gratitude journaling: 35 new entries

Tumblr queue: 35 posts added

Day job: 42 hours

Cooking: roasted some sweet potatoes and mixed up miso butter for them from this recipe

Gardening: repotted aloe and agaves (and subsequently died of blood loss thanks to my stabby babies)

(I feel like the decent days, when nothing particularly appalling happens, make for bad radio here. That probably says something sad--I'm not sure about what/whom.)

The artist clockways over on tumblr did a poll-based "let's design a creature together" activity. She just finished closing the last poll (sorry, this is not a timely post on my part), and I am eager to see the creature she ultimately designs based on the voting. Her designs are very much my aesthetic--very round and soft and loveable-looking, with a benign weirdness to them.

I've been making a habit of manually checking more of the sites/accounts I follow. The deluge of updates makes it hard to actually find anything I want specifically. This is especially true of the accounts that focus more on original posts--essays or art in progress--which get entirely drowned out by the reblog-focused ones who have the entirety of the internet to keep the stream flowing. I don't want to unfollow anything, which will inevitably lead to forgetting entirely that a place/person exists. But damn, sometimes I want to hear what a specific person has to say.

In this case, I set tumblr to notify me when clockways makes a new post--good for the particularly infrequent updaters, since I don't have to go through and check daily myself--and was richly rewarded by actually hearing about this creature-by-poll thing in time to cast a few votes of my own. Perhaps it is the general air of isolation and sadness of the current times, but I got an inordinate amount of satisfaction from participating in something that was happening live. I had to pay attention! I got to see the results changing as other people cast votes--confirmation that other people still exist!

Joking aside, this was really cool. I don't know where else I could seek out things like this, or how I could do something similar, but it's an idea to consider. Knowing that someone is on the same page as I am, right in this moment, felt very meaningful.
