Today's Keyboard Smash
Aug. 5th, 2020 04:13 pmOh, fuck yes. Guess who got sent home early?!
My project got shut down (again). Got handed a bunch of packaging work to keep me busy. Including stuff that other people had inexplicably failed at in one way or another, so I got to fix it. And I was allowed to do a task I haven't been trained for but could obviously figure out on my own. So a nice day of being given free rein.
Then they ran out of things for me to do with 45 minutes left to the day. And I not-so-jokingly told my team lead I would be cool with going home early. This went over way better than I expected--they really, legit didn't have anything meaningful that I could get involved with in that amount of time.
I know it's a silly thing to be excited for. I'm just going to use some of my stockpiled PTO to make up the difference, because hell no, I'm not taking a smaller paycheck. But it was just exactly what I needed to make the week bearable.
My hip, which yesterday was moderately tormenting me, decided to full-bore annihilate my lifestyle. I am not currently allowed to fully straighten up through my hip unless I really enjoy the sort of stabbing pains that nearly took me to the floor while working. Didn't--didn't love that, you know? So going home even a little early was absolutely aces as far as my murder joint and I were concerned.
