Today's Keyboard Smash

Finally, finally, I've been given an assignment at work that doesn't involve any talking. Nobody is training me; I'm not training anyone else. Nothing is going wrong that would require outside assistance. I can just sit and work and say nothing. Admittedly, it's a task I neither enjoy nor excel at, so I'm not exactly enjoying the work. But I am listening to the 2016 season of Hidden Almanac, which is a decent trade-off.

This is the difficulty of having sales drop off so sharply due to the lockdowns. It's been months since there was enough work to go around such that people can work alone. I had been worried, at the start of the year, about sourcing enough audiobooks to keep myself amused. Instead, I haven't had a moment's peace. And peaceful isolation, repetitive work, and the opportunity to listen to anything I like so long as I still get parts made were the chief recommendations of this position in the first place.

If I'm lucky, my current assignment will carry me through tomorrow at most. After that? I'll probably have to start interacting with people again. Sad, really.
