Today's Keyboard Smash

One thing I find slightly frustrating about the Instant Pot--or presumably any pressure cooker--is the time it takes to come up to heat/pressure. The timer for cooking white rice in it is twelve minutes, but first, it has to pre-heat. I didn't bother to actually time how long that took, but it was a non-trivial amount of time.
Maybe it's still faster than my regular rice cooker. Having never made rice on the stovetop, I can't say anything about that. In any case, it's not actually that fast, all things considered. Other stuff, like dried beans, is wildly faster than they would be by other methods, I'll grant you that. It's just interesting to see the things that the Instant Pot can do, if you want to have a single cooking appliance for everything, but which it cannot be said to do best.
