Okay. As Clint would say,
this looks bad. Hoo.
But on the
other hand. (h/t

So today, what will I do? How will I keep the fight and the fighters going?
Yesterday, high on the good vibes of my day, I ran a bunch of errands. One of them was to the family-owned movie theater just down from the library. They've been closed off and on during all this, and they're struggling to get caught up on rent. They're doing a fundraiser and some special deals to get money coming in now until they can open up again. I'm super uncomfortable with the idea of
sitting in a movie theater right now, and still will be if they are allowed to open in a few weeks like the owner is hoping. But I would very much like the theater to still be there when people are less poisonous than they currently are. So I bought two big bags of popcorn, which came with a free gift card to the theater for the same amount I paid. I am basically just advance buying tickets and getting popcorn for free in the deal. If they stay in business, someday I will go watch some good good movie there. In the meantime, I can help them stay afloat. Also, and I cannot believe I'm saying this but, the popcorn is friggin' delicious and tastes like community support and salty butter.
Walking back, I passed a little concrete access path outside the library, between patches of landscaping, and saw a baby lizard. It had already lost its tail to misadventure and was in the process of regrowing it from the little stub. I stopped and gave it a stern talking-to about being careful and it darted back into the groundcover.
The pelargonium that I have been trying to keep alive, when all other succulent pelargoniums die on me, has risen from the grave yet again. It regularly turns into a brittle lump of dead material, and every time I think I'll just give up and toss it at last, I can't quite bring myself to. Well, today I was taking some cuttings from the regular geraniums, in which it shelters, and saw green. Tiny green leaves growing on it once again. So I finally repotted it into something other than the tiny plastic pot it came in and returned it to its customary location to keep surviving. This is resurrection #3 at least, and it will henceforth be among my best-beloved plants, because around here, we like the scrappy ones best.
I'm listening to this utterly charming song on loop:
Æ MAK - i dance in the kitchen (feat. Seba Safe), via KEXP Song of the Day podcast. Watch the video at the bottom of the page for a little interview clip and then the music video, which is just the cutest, dorkiest thing I've ever seen, aka the Very Good dance skills we all have in the privacy of our own kitchens.
