Skeleton crew mode, activate! Hoo boy, there is nobody working this week. Lots of people, especially the old hands whose PTO cap is so high, take weeks off during December. Apparently, the company sometimes shuts down the facility for the week(s) of Christmas and New Year, but not this year. Instead, we're running two-person jobs with only one person! Yay! I was, in fact, acting as the second person until my machine got approved to start up again. I felt bad for abandoning my coworker. On the other hand, I'm getting to run by myself, which is always better.

Meanwhile, I came back from break to another form letter notifying us there's been another case of covid here. Same song and dance as last time--they've determined by secret means that no one else needs to quarantine. Convenient, that. Because so many people are out, it's now truly impossible to even guess who it might be. I'm honestly too emotionally wrung out to even try. Whatever.
scrubjayspeaks: Town sign for (fictional) Lake Lewisia, showing icons of mountains and a lake with the letter L (Lake Lewisia)
Lewisia is a town of rich history as well as constant change, with families rooted back to the town's founding and newcomers just beginning to bloom here, and we all have our holiday traditions. Did you know that many other places and cultures share our love of bonfires in midwinter, while nowhere else in the world reports knowing about the Yule Weasel and its gifts of socks and noodles? On this merry solstice of bright lights and dark nights, share one of your traditions with a neighbor and learn something new from them, so we can all be more joyous together.
