Today's Keyboard Smash
Jan. 14th, 2021 04:31 pmWell, my team lead saw my time off on the schedule and seems to think it will go forward as planned. I laughed for a possibly inappropriate length of time when they said they didn't see why it wouldn't. They were sort of joking and sort of not, but I was dead serious when I said I would believe it when I made it out of the building the day before without being pulled aside to be voluntold to come in anyway.
They also offered to talk to the supervisor about not making me work overtime tomorrow, to which I panicked and insisted they not. I'm trying to frontload as much extra work as I can in the hopes of putting us in a good place so I CAN leave. This was ironic since my back is hurting so much, I was consumed by visions of leaving early even as they talked to me. I won't, and I wouldn't even if I weren't angling for the end of the month, because I make poor life choices. Goddamn, though, my back is killing me.
It is one of the absurd truths of adulthood that, after a long day, my chief pleasures in life will be a hot shower and an early bedtime.
