Lake Lewisia #663
Apr. 21st, 2021 05:05 pmThe creature used their amethyst claws to chip away hunks of half-rotted log, exposing the faint glow of spores setting inside, and tucked a small piece into a cozy corner of the cavern. Somewhere up above, their lover spent the day doing volunteer planting on the surface outside the Buried Gardens, and they liked to imagine all those young spores and roots forming a tangle of connection between the two. As they hoisted up the log and moved on to the next area to inoculate, they sang a little song to themself and to the mushroom garden--about long roots and hands moving in unison and love that could pass through even the hardest bedrock.
