This month, the Barter Fest will be hosted by the flock of crows living out by the community college, who have generously offered access to the campus park free of corvid theft of anyone's trade goods. We had a little trouble translating their proposed theme for the month, but we think "Corn Chip Currency" captures most of the nuance. Accordingly, this month will mainly focus on exchanging snack foods, cookbooks and equipment, and anything shiny from jewelry to foil packets.

Today's Keyboard Smash

Oh thank Thor. A very normal day. A special treat kind of day, even. They gave me one of my favorite forms of recreational tedium at work. I might even get to do it again tomorrow. I finally had both the alone time and the mental bandwidth to listen to podcasts; last week, I couldn't even manage to have music playing. Other people had to deal with the Deeply Cursed Project I had last week, and since it's still just as cursed, it definitely wasn't just something I was doing. Someone brought in donuts, which I don't eat during the day, but hey, free donut for later. Speaking of free things, someone brought in a bunch of aloe cuttings, free to a good home.

I needed all of this. Very badly. I've apparently been just a bit tense--my whole face aches from what is probably jaw clenching in my sleep. (I'm lucky I wear a mouthguard at night, or I wouldn't have any intact teeth left at this point.) It's so bad, I've resorted to putting some of the lidocaine cream I normally use on my back onto the hinges of my jaw. I'm going to need to ice my face later too--sadly, I cannot safely put muscle cream all around my eyes.
