Lake Lewisia #695
Jul. 5th, 2021 04:39 pmThe Dog Days of Summer have begun, named for the appearance of Sirius, the Dog Star, in close proximity to the sun and the ancient belief that it lent extra heat to make the next forty days particularly intense. While this event is not connected to actual dogs in any way, those looking for canid-related chronology can await the Lonely Dog Weeks, that time in September when a dog's beloved children suddenly resume attending school after several months of staying home with the family pet(s) where they belong. Many will prefer Lap Cat Season, that short window in which the weather is precisely cool enough that a cat curled in your lap provides just the touch of warmth needed for comfort, thus outweighing the impossibility of getting any actual work done while serving as feline furniture.
