It had started out as a cork board and the wall around it--her conspiracy wall, friends called it, and she had to admit that was as good a name as any for the collection of aerial photos and news reports and lines drawn in string and thumbtacks, at least until it outgrew the space. After she moved it to the floor, those strings seemed to weave into the carpet and grow, fungal and unstoppable, to encompass all walkable territory. Soon, like a bee, she danced maps from the kitchen to the bedroom, her every movement expressing the connections only her mind could see.
