Lake Lewisia #798
Mar. 30th, 2022 04:20 pmIt didn't actually start as a molehill, but one small burrowing creature was much like another as far as these things went, and the little mound of dirt got lucky in other ways: fossil dust and knocker's bones and living clay. If those living nearby were bothered by the highly localized earthquakes, no one thought to take their complaints to the steadily growing hillock that now broke up a previously flat plain. One day, when it neared adulthood, the young peak would pick itself up and go walking in search of a range to join, and the valley left behind might once again nursery a mountain.
