She had lived through wartime rationing when she had to boil raisins in place of sugar for cakes, and through the gasoline shortages when they all carpooled and did the shopping as seldom as possible. This was just another shortage, another reason to adapt, and she refused to believe she was too old to do it again. So she diluted potions, and she left offerings of bread crusts and water instead of cake and wine, and she made her magic at home, waiting for the day when there would be more of it to go around.
