Lake Lewisia #946
Apr. 7th, 2023 05:11 pmThe spring rains of a forest blew in across the desert, a bit confused by the sudden oasis of dry air and parched earth but certainly game to work its damp magic in the unfamiliar landscape. The desert, at least, knew how to handle flash floods and let all that rain sluice down the marbled lengths of dried mud riverbeds. Then, summoned by the unexpected but long-awaited water, the sleepers woke: toads crawled from hibernation burrows, and wildflower seeds cracked from out their hulls, and impossible prophecies regarding high tide amid sand dunes shook off the centuries of idleness and did their unlikely work.
