Done This Week
Jul. 23rd, 2023 01:47 pmMan, writing has just been like pulling teeth lately. I'm going to blame the summer for two reasons. One, it's my least favorite season and, given the seasonal emphasis in Lewisia, the least inspiring one as well. Two, it's so frickin' hot all the time, I can't be expected to have coherent thoughts. This weather is for lying quietly and listening to music.
I'm caught up on Lewisia (for now) and I have one more Aftermarket Parts-related post waiting in the wings at the moment. But I don't have anything for Lewisia #1000, which will hit on August 11th. I have a partially written novella that absolutely will not be ready in that timeframe, so I need to accept that it will just be something...else. Or else, the celebratory story will stand alone/outside the numbering scheme to buy me extra time.
I know I'm burning a lot of my free time on tumblr right now. But I'm specifically visiting trans(masculine)-related accounts. Because I'm lonely. It's embarrassing to admit it, but that's the real crux of the thing. Due to circumstances, the few people I normally get to talk to personally about my gender stuff are not available. Which leaves posting here and scrolling tumblr for some semblance of community. Not a great arrangement, but it's what I have right now. So I can't quite bring myself to back off for the sake of spending more time creating my own things.
I so want to have offline connections to other queer and trans people. Yet I can barely manage the social demands I have now. I'm drawn to the idea of doing some kind of community activism/service as a way of being in my community, but the prospect of doing more exhausts me. It's like someone managed to build a person where all the critical aspects of them preclude the possibility of interaction and connection. Designed for loneliness; optimized for isolation.
Lewisia: 5 new pieces, plus another bonus piece written
Day job: 43.5 hours
Crafting: sewed a new patch on my vest
Listening: Fake News by Pinguini Tattici Nucleari (found via this comic which references the video for "Giovani Wannabe," became obsessed, got the whole album, cannot stop listening, will now be compelled to learn at least the basics of Italian pronunciation so I can sing along better)
Other: installed the new freezer (*pant* *wheeze* is just like being at work...), met up with D&D buddies to plan for an upcoming one-shot
