Done This Week
Feb. 4th, 2024 01:42 pmIf my mission was to make the most of my vacation time, I think that was a stunning, exhausting success. I’ve gone on four day trips, just for a start. It was basically An Event every other day, which at least gave me rest days in between. Which I very much needed. And now I got home very late last night and got only a little sleep, so I’m on target to go back to work more tired than I had been before vacation. So that’s...a choice I’ve made.
Also, wow, when I don’t have to work, look at how much more variety there is in what I do in a week. A little bit of everything, huh? I was deliberately letting myself indulge a lot--many lovely tea times, futzing around with redesigning areas on my Animal Crossing island, that sort of thing. But I also ended up doing a lot more creative puttering about.
Every now and then, a coworker will suggest that they would get bored if they didn’t have to work. I have always insisted that no, I would not have that problem, as I am more than capable of finding ways to amuse myself when given the opportunity. Nice to see that confirmed. Now if I just didn’t have to work...
Lewisia: 6 new pieces written, so I’m caught up just in time for it to go on February hiatus, aka crunch time for me to prep next year’s specials ಠ_ಠ
Day job: none hours with left beef
Cooking: Brazilian cheese bread by request of my friend E, I’m not at all sure about this (questionable texture), but it met with her approval, so that was nice
Cleaning: framed and hung up four prints that have been waiting for me
Crafting: darned four pairs of socks with some new yarn
Gardening: planted out the new chaparral current (that’s been waiting since I got it for my LAST birthday…), started my three mushroom growing kits
Reading: Mycocultural Revolution by Peter McCoy (more mushroom obsessing)
Listening: The Essential Paul Simon, thus completing this round of “backfill old albums/artists I should have had years ago,” also S. J. Tucker’s singles “Imbolc Song” and “Snow Moon” for the seasonal vibes
Other: trip to my hometown for yet another appointment to dial in my blood pressure meds, trip to the beach (mostly hamstrung by the storm) and beach town (where most of the things I wanted were inexplicably closed), trip to the Bay for SF Sketchfest to see the live You Are Good podcast show
Aftermarket Parts: appointment for letter of support (which passed with the surgeon’s office and will go to my insurance when the time is right)
