It became something of a parade: slow-moving cars with carefully braced tiers of cake belted into the passenger's seat, bus riders with loaves of fresh bread piled in their laps, and pedestrians with golden pastries clutched in flour-dusted arms. The paper applications were an afterthought, and many would hastily fill out second copies after forgetting theirs at home. They converged on the event center to form the highest concentration of deliciousness per square foot seen since the Spontaneous Soup Rain of '84.
