Lake Lewisia #1131
Jul. 10th, 2024 03:25 pmIn winter, it had been no more than a wispy water grass, slightly slimy, inclined to wrap about the occasional fish, stick, or itself, in the absence of anything more tempting to twine about. By summer, though, it had once again fleshed out into its warm-weather foliage: broad, deeply lobed fronds now stretched out from the central stalk and beckoned in the deep, welcoming water. It had been conserving itself for these hot days, and for the joyful swimmers who returned to the lake and swam so willingly into its reach.
