In the warm months, when the waterways ran steady and safe (or nearly so), those living nearby strung them with water chimes. Lashed to rocks or dangling from overhanging tree roots, the chimes spun in the currents much like their windy counterparts. They made equally delightful music, provided you were in a position to hear the soft underwater scales and chords.
