Done This Week
Sep. 1st, 2024 02:46 pmI did, in fact, apply for another position. Largely with the encouragement of the person who is leaving. It’s on the facilities team, which I work with regularly. I had a very encouraging, unofficial talk with their boss.
Then I had, on short notice, my official interview. The HR person, with whom I think I’ve exchanged all of five words previously, gave me possibly the weirdest vibes ever. Felt like I was answering trick questions and getting them wrong. So that was a real fun way to end the week.
I might get a gig that has the potential to be incredibly rewarding for me. Or I might get a big fat nothing, at which point I will be fully done with this place.
I got to see E for her birthday, which was a nice afternoon. I also got to visit the Asian market and buy a bunch of fun nonsense.
Lewisia: 3 new pieces written
Day job: 34 hours, as I was out of town Monday
Crafting: more progress on the dice bag
Reading: audiobook of Ring Shout by P. Djèlí Clark (the next piece for the Writing Excuses podcast, so good, truly an amazingly creepy thing to read while on a long drive)
Listening: The Capitol Collector’s Series by The Kingston Trio (after copperbadge made a reference to them, I listened to “Tom Dooley” and had the memory of all the lyrics snap back into my mind after not thinking of them for many years)
Other: unloaded hay, fixed (eh, more like “fixed”) the parking brake cable on the ranch truck, hometown trip for an appointment, visited E out of town
