Anyone is welcome to comment with what they're growing right now, things they would like to try, problems they're encountering, and questions they have. Share resources, answer questions, shout encouragement.
As for myself...
Well, I said I wasn't involved in the pumpkin patch, and that has become a vast lie. Much fertilizing and babying of growing squashlets has been done over the past month. But look! Look how beautiful they are! Could you deny these squash anything?
Meanwhile, the garden flowers that *aren't* wildflowers have slowly decided to get their act together. The buddleia abruptly started flowering. The zinnias and snapdragons, after giving every impression of refusing to ever grow, have made an effort, if not quite a valiant one. I shouldn't be rude to the snapdragons--they're doing okay. The zinnias, though, are weedy and shabby looking and need to think about their life choices.
The four o'clocks have come roaring in at last, after being stuck in the three-inch sprout stage for ages. I planted two varieties this year: the standard ones and a marbled version. The standard ones grew extremely well last year. They also have somewhat eye-searing coloration, particularly the pink ones.
The marbled ones are very pretty. So far, I've seen white and pink in various proportions, and yellow with fine veins of pink that mostly looks orange.
However! The standard variety has produced much larger, more vigorous plants. And while the marbled flowers are prettier, they are few and far between, entirely outshone by the great fistfuls of blooms on the other plants.
