Re: fandoms--I think there's a certain constellation of fandoms that you get, like, automatically registered with if you were active at the same time. Even if one didn't do it for you, cultural osmosis grants enough familiarity to have a basic working knowledge. Thinking back on, say, the heyday of Stargate Atlantis, I remember the internet as being a very small, connected space. I don't know what's changed: the internet, the fandoms, or me.

I'm very nostalgic for 2005 or thereabouts, which feels wild to say. Wasn't that just a couple of years ago? *oldness intensifies*
