I haven't been able to stick my hands in dirt for a week now, and I'm a little mad about it. (I had to evacuate for hurricane Ida. I'm fine, but can't go home until power is back for health reasons.) All the potted plants were indoors for the main event and got put back out a day or two later.
Previous to leaving town, something ate all my spinach and then we had a couple ridiculously hot days that fried it. I've got roughly half of my plants trying to hang on, but at this rate they'll either live or die on their own. The lettuce that bolted at the beginning of summer and then died off seems to have seeded a few baby lettuces. I've got two kinds of mint and a purple basil that keeps trying to bolt. It'll probably go while I'm not around to keep an eye on it. The sweet basil is the most well behaved plant I currently have.
The rose bush is upset that we've been having too much rain and it's been very hot out. She'll survive, she's just cranky. (She's a shockingly hardy rosebush.)
The amaryllis seeds I planted have put up enough tiny sprouts that I'm already arranging for some plants to go to other houses. (I had two amaryllis bloom at once and one set seed pods. I followed some internet advice to pot them up as an experiment.)
